Trailer Sailor Skipper Mariner 17 On Sound Snipe Trailer

My Skipper Mariner 17, 1st photo on mooring with mast stowed to motor under Ludham Bridge on the River Ant. We have had many fabulous days on the Norfolk Broads and Rivers, but I now want to give some sailing experience to my 3 grandchildren and I am replacing Susa-Nowa (Shinto god of the East wind) with an a lighter open dinghy. She comes on a sturdy swing axle Snipe galvanised trailer, which is included in the sale price, for easy launching from slipway. The trailer has been properly maintained and is rated 750Kg to carry the boat and equipment. These trailers alone sell for £500 plus on classifieds board.

Set up presently as a day cruiser, but the cabin could be equipped with a spirit stove, leisure battery, lighting and a double berth with two single berths under boom cover if that's what you want. The Skipper has been owned,used and regularly maintained by me for 6 years and before me was sailed on for many years at a Newcastle-under-Lyme inland water club. I believe her to be buuilt around 1984 from the original sail number data given me by previous owner. Over the years I have had the swing keel out for shot blasting and cold zinc undercoating with International Marine finish top coating and I have renewed the swing keel pivot bolt in the skeg with a good quality marine stainless bolt and Sikafix sealing with marine epoxy surface finish to prevent any water leaks to the skeg. The hull deck and cockpit are original gel-coat and have been water jetted, cleaned and polished by me each season.

Over the years she has seen the usual knocks and scratches but these have been properly repaired with marine epoxy and polished in. The hull and decking is not pristine as you would expect of a boat of this age, but it's much better than most as the Skipper has a legendary build quality with 12mm gelcoat in the crucial places. The Proctor aluminium mast and boom is in fair and useable condition as is the standing rigging. The working jib and mainsail are well used but in fair and working condition. The 4HP Mariner outboard which I carry on transom mount is NOT included in this sale but may be available for an extra fee I will be posting more pictures of her fully rigged.
