A very rare opportunity to purchase a boat equally suited to both rivers and open water, and probably one of the safest and well built 31' boats you are likely to find, especially one that can sleep 8. 'Eclipse' is well suited to families with extremely clever use of internal space giving ample storage. On deck, 'Eclipse' has wide decks, tall safety rails and ample grab handles – typically Norwegian and built to their version of Lloyds A1. Eclipse has recently benefited from many recent (last 2 years) upgrades including a Vetus bow thruster, Sterling Pro Combi inverter / charger, Eberspacher Airtronic heater, oversized Universal Hotpot calorifier, Waeco fridge, pressurized hot / cold water system, screen cover (allowing you to see out but not to see in) and associated improvements to gain BSC (expires 28th May 2019). Recent invoices for improvements total £11,690.

This winter a new, over-spec 'admiralty brass' stern tube was professionally fitted together with new cutlass bearing. This coming winter, the only maintenance really of benefit will be some internal varnishing. The bow thruster and powerful single engine makes her easily handled by one person and novice crew and the great bathing platform together with hot & cold pressurized transom shower are really useful. 'Snap davits' are also fitted to carry a tender and there is a remote controlled Loran Windlass together with self launching anchor (currently removed). Eclipse is fitted with a Volvo Penta TAMD40B 165hp turbo diesel engine together with hydraulic trim tabs giving 18knots top speed or 12knots cruising.

The hull design below the waterline is wide at the stern leading to a very fine bow meaning she can maintain 12knots without slamming in rough weather but still having a traditional skeg and ruder so the propeller is protected if in shallow water / grounding and she can maintain a straight line at slow speed. I keep her on the non tidal Thames during each summer (so fresh water use) and bring her home to the River Crouch in the winter where she is stored ashore, a 100+mile trip across the Thames Estuary. The engine is completely smoke free and also benefits from a recent full service and heat exchanger overhaul. The file shows a gearbox overhaul and new cone clutch in 2013 by Volvo agents. Safety features on the engine include twin fuel feeds (allowing replacement of filters whilst engine is running or one filter to be blocked / isolated without shutting the engine down) and twin / separate cooling water inlets with easy to reach / clean strainer.

I’m in no rush to sell & have holidays booked aboard later this summer but sadly I really need to spend more time completing a course and I have a 2nd boat. Her berth on the Thames (between Marlow & Henley) is fully paid until October 2017 but transfer of any berthing entitlement will be at the discretion of the marina.
