Plenty of ventilation via roof/deck vents and Lewmar hatches Capabilities Being a true pilot cutter, the sea faring ability of this boat is excellent. The hull was designed to cope with heavy seas and she does so very well. However, being a planing hull, with air entrapment sponsons either side, her stability is enhanced still further. With the very powerful and reliable Detroit Diesel 8V71 engines, she cruises at 20 KT if desired, but can well exceed 30KT in ideal conditions. She was meticulously maintained by a previous owner of 17 years (a naval officer/engineer), so most of her life has been under ideal, knowledgeable (some might say obsessive) ownership.
Since 2013/14 she has done very little in comparison. This past year she has had the following work done.. Engines/gearboxes serviced Interior cleaned and dried out after little use. Recommissioning of electronics New monitor/charger to engine (port) battery bank Removal of old refrigerator and cooker/hob Removal of a reserve bank of dead old leisure batteries. Treated all diesel tanks against any diesel bug Temporary waterproofing/taping of windows etc. Work that we didn’t get round to doing.. Re seal wheelhouse and some accommodation side glazing Some remedial deckwork/re-covering Two new lazarette covers Recomissioning the Refleks stove Inspect/Replace 60 Metre anchor chain Re-finish/varnish water stains from internal trim around windows Replacing aft cassette WC unit in rear washroom/heads Replacing microwave/combi oven and electric hob.
Polishing wheelhouse paintwork Replacing refleks heater flue pipe Claudia has quite a bit of history and has been enjoyed since she was min 1990 by David Mallett (of 1980s music video fame). David sold her on back in 1994. She has travelled extensively around Europe from the northern tip of Norway, down to Spain/Portugal in her life. Her hull was one of only 7 made. The other six were made into pilot/survey or military fast response vessels (yes, complete with guns fore and aft!).
Claudia’s hull was the only one made into a gentleman’s cruiser, so she is unique and therefore very special..almost legendary! The engines have taken her around with no fuss in their 3760 hours of life, and still push her along very strongly. Her unique hull is in very good order, and a recent survey found no evidence of any problems such as osmosis. Since that time, a couple of coats of commercial grade International Antifoul have been applied, along with a complete set of anodes (June this year). P brackets/bearings etc.
Were checked at the same time and found to be in very good order. When the gear oil was changed, the old oil looked like new, with no discolouration or dirt. She is currently moored on the Isle of Wight, on a very picturesque marina mooring. This mooring can be taken over by any future owner. Current fees are paid up to the beginning of October.
Personal issues have led to us having to regrettably say goodbye to her, allowing someone to continue to look after her in a manner which she deserves. Please cut and paste the Dropbox link below for more extensive photographs. Boat available to view until auction ends. Please do not pay by Paypal straight away after auction ends. Contact me first and await my reply!
Cash or direct bank transfer Deposit of 10% (non refundable) is required within 24 hours of auction end, the rest payable on the day of hand over. Hand over/Transfer of ownwership to be carried out using approved RYA forms for peace of mind. Please feel free to make an offer via classifieds board, in compliance with classifieds board rules. Be aware, this really is a one off boat, there is no other like her in the world, so bear that in mind before making any offers. Here is a Youtube video of her made by Motor Boat & Yachting back in 2012/3 before she was sold on by the couple in the video. https://m.youtube.com/watch?
V=8Pk8O9rHOuM The magazine also did a feature on her in their April 2012 issue magazine. Just a note to say that I have had a lot of technical enquiries about Claudia. To put some minds at rest.. I can help with most aspects of her unique design, however I cannot claim to be an expert in hull design, suffice to say that potential bidders should be aware that this boat is original and unique. As far as we know (having been in contact with her two long term previous owners), the hull is totally original and has never had to have any structural repair. Viewing is recommended, and during viewing, she can be started up and run for as long as desired as she is currently in the water within the marina. Like any thoroughbred, she has needed (and will need) continued care and attention.
Claudia has nothing to hide mechanically, and has a very extensive and well written service log for all mechanicals, including the Generator & Gearboxes. A sample Photo of the service log can be seen within the Dropbox link below. Beyond all these things that I do know, your independent judgement/inspection is welcomed before the end of the auction. I can take no responsibility for misjudged bids due to lack of opportunity to view Claudia. PS. No water is coming in through the hull or shaft seals, the inside of the hull is clean as far as the eye can see.
I just learned about Dropbox, so... Firstly, I now have a Dropbox link to be able to share more photos.. See the Dropbox link below for deck pics (you can see she needs re decking, as I mentioned originally). The lazarette covers and parts of the aft portion of deck are in need of some strengthening, especially as they are high traffic/access areas. Dropbox link... Https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vwcxqb5xts0ioo7/AACaBuoeiuTcU2N_W7T7MSB7a? Dl=0 Please see one of the photos in the Dropbox link, which depicts the top of the service fuel tank for an example.. Complete with home made dipsticks to check levels manually if desired! It is also worth mentioning that there are numerous spares such as filters, alternator belts, gaskets/seals, pipework etc stowed away in service cupboards. I would appreciate it if the winning bidder contacts me immediately after the auction ends to arrange payment and hand-over.
Full Payment will be expected within 24 hours by Bank Transfer or cash if preferred, contact me for bank details, please do not use Paypal in this instance, it will just be refunded. Full receipt and proof of transfer of the vessel will be signed and witnessed on hand over (RYA Forms). If you have any questions, please ask before Buying or making offers. Once you buy, you commit, and the transaction will not be cancelled. I shall simply re list and open a non payment case.
Best wishes.
