12ft x 60ft Widebeam Canal boat for sale. We are selling our Widebeam ‘DOBBLER’ We bought it as a Sailaway in 2016, lined and insulated from Collingwood Boats and fitted the interior out ourselves. It has given us 4 years of comfortable affordable living and will be sad to see it go. OUTSIDE The black paint and cream high grip roof are in good condition. This combination along with the red coach line and matching sign writing makes for a very smart boat.
The hull has been painted with 2 pack epoxy which has an 8-10-year life so does not need doing for a few years. The front deck has a large storage locker, access hatch to the bow thruster. Two large external water tanks in addition to the main tank. The rear cover was installed in July 2019 so like new and has red piping that ties into the colour scheme and breaks up the panels. This is basically an extra room but all the sides can be removed so in the summer it can be used as a sun shade.
The back deck has a lovely seating area with cream cushions and ample storage underneath. The gas locker holds 2x 13Kg Gas bottles with isolation valve, automatic switch over system with a bubble type leak tester so you can always be sure there are no gas leaks. The engine bay also has large amounts of storage space. INSIDE You enter the boat into a very spacious open plan kitchen and living room. The kitchen has been fitted out in a modern and stylish way with a large breakfast bar and loads of cupboard space.
There is a Shoreline 12v Fridge, 5 ring gas hob and a Belkin gas cooker and grill. The living room has space for a decent sized sofa. We currently have a 3-seat sofa bed for guests. There is yet more storage and the main feature of the room, the fire. This is a Mendip solid fuel burner that heats the boat well even in the coldest months.
The bathroom is very large compared to other boats. Again, this room is modern, there is a double sized corner shower with Whale automatic shower pump. Thetford cassette toilet with plumbed in flush and a spare cassette. There is a double width cupboard which we use to store our hoover and tools etc. There is a single cupboard which is currently used for bedding and towels etc.
There is yet more storage under the sink and a medicine cabinet. The bedroom has two built in wardrobes with large draws below and a 6-draw unit to one side. We currently have a standard double bed and the frame is an Ottoman frame so the mattress lifts up provided even more storage. There is room for a larger bed if desired. Doors open to the front deck.
All the curtains in the boat are hand made using black out material. Valid Safety Certificate ENGINE/DRIVE All our previous boats had Beta Marine engines and we have never had issues with them so we decided to upgrade the engine to a Beta Marine 75 which is more than enough to cope with travelling on rivers. Water lubricated stern gland so no need for greasing. Tiller steering and Vetus Bow Thruster POWER/LIGHTING 3 x Leisure batteries1 x Starter batteryBatteries are charged via the engine (one alternator for the leisure batteries and one for the starter) 600W Solar panels keep the batteries topped up all year round (rarely run the engine in the summer)Victron MultiPlus Inverter Charger 12V/3000VA/120A12v downlights throughout on separate circuits for each room. There is a 240v ring main with sockets in each room.240v shoreline connection.
12v bedside lights with USB sockets. HEATING/HOTWATER/DRINKING WATER Mendip 8 solid fuel burner (8kw output) with back boiler and 2 radiators (bathroom and bedroom) on an open gravity system so no need for bleeding the radiators or risk of over pressurisation. The Fire has a chimney extension which is removal and improves the draw. A SureCal twin coil Calorifier which has an immersion heater installed (not connected). Provides the hot water for the boat.
Primary heat (first coil) is from the engine the second coil is connected to the back boiler as a second heat source although this requires a 12V hot water pump to work. The pipework was installed in case we needed it but we haven’t. All water pipes and fittings are JG Push fit so easily altered if needed.850L fresh water capacity. Two large external water tanks (200L each) in addition to the main tank. The additional tanks are made suitable for drinking water.
