Yorkshire Coble - Project

Wooden Yorkshire Coble, which I started as a project a few years ago. 23 feet long and around 6.5 feet wide. Clinker Built, Larch on Oak. Originally built by Hargreaves Hopwood of Flamborough in 1935(ish) as a sailing coble, but with a raised ram plank to allow an engine to be fitted, which later was but now taken out. Called Better Hope when built, latterly called Angler.

There is substantial work required as should be evident from the pictures which includes: Re-planking Re-framing Repairs to the transom New top rails New thwarts New Scutt Board Replacement stem into the keel Probably re-nailing also I'd got as far as stripping off the alterations that had been made over the years, stripping off the hull outside and priming to preserve. The coble is a very good example of the era, built by a well know boat builder. To be clear there is no engine with the coble. Any questions or viewing welcome, the coble is located close to Filey in North Yorkshire. There is no trailer so buyer is responsible to arrange collection.
