Zodiac Hurricane 640 Rib - Volvo Penta KAD32DP - 4 Wheel Trailer

Zodiac Hurricane 640 Rib. Condition is For parts or not working This is a commercial rib, heavy duty which has been in storage. Before it went into storage it had a new engine fitted. Never been in the water since the engine was fitted. The engine is a Volvo Penta KAD 32 DP.

The package includes a RM 4 wheel rollercoaster trailer, never immersed. The rib has many commercial bits of equipment including custom 4 point crane lift with strop, self righting gear. Boat needs sorting out so a good project. Costs £100 000 new. A new similar Volvo Penta D3 engine would cost £20000.

The engine was a new engine from RK Marine and fitted by a marine engineer on Hamble. The list price at the time was £14000. The self righting gear and air bottle is new, as is all the upholstery and the lifting gear crane lifting strop. With this system on can get the boat craned in and you never have to put your trailer in the water. This is a proper ocean going rib as used by be US Coastguard for launching into heavy seas from the deck of a ship.

It is a heavy boat that cruises comfortably at 25/30 knots which is no effort with a 170hp inboard diesel. Fuel is all built into the deck and economy is unbeatable - one can go out for the day and spend little more that £10/20 on fuel. The boat needs tidying up to get her back to where she was - which when Zodiac saw her looks like new. She is for sale in an as now condition if anyone wants to take on this as a project. I am soon to start renovating her again and recommissioning her however the sale price will increase.

The trailer was bought new from RM Trailers @ 3.5 tons and has not been immersed, it is also fitted with brake wash down facility. The Volvo Penta KAD32DPE engine was brand new when it went into the rib 12 years ago. There is a lot of interesting commercial fittings on this boat. The hull has a Copper coating to prevent antifouling should you want to keep it afloat. The tubes are removable - bolted on and are very heavy duty.

I have used this boat many times and it is a wonderful rib to be on, much admired as a real commercial rib. In rough seas it is very comfortable and stables - the tubes are designed to be in contact with the water for stability. Perfect size at 6.4 metres it is a relatively heavy construction boat with a Hurricane hull. It uses very little fuel compared to a similar outboard engined boat. The difference being £10 in fuel for the day compared to £120 with an outboard.

Perfect if you are looking for a commercial rib for towing or standby duties. And this one has many of the commercial required fittings on the boat, stainless fuel lines etc. To buy new from Zodiac Hurricane USA this is an incredibly expensive craft - it comes into their commercial and military build programme.
