Regal Valanti 222 5 Litre V8 Inboard, Stern Drive, Cubby Cabin, Project Boat

This Regal valanti 222sc is a large boat as can be seen by the picture of it alongside my long wheelbase vivaro van. I bought this boat as a project and fully re-built the engine including a re-bore and crank grind with all new bushes, cam and bearings, oil pump etc from Summit Racing in America who stock all the parts for this Ford 302cu V8 engine, which in UK terms is a 5 litre. I changed a couple of the bearings in the stern drive and gave it a service with a new impeller and oil change. The stern drive does come with a 19 inch St/steel prop that is not shown in the pictures.Additionally I upgraded the navigation / depth finder to a LCD unit that can accept updated Memory chips of the admiralty charts. The new carburetor I had fitted developed a leaky jet and I removed it to have it repaired, but disaster struck when the tonneau cover covering the boat split in a heavy rain storm and water poured into the engine.

I only found this out a few days later and removed the engine and stripped it down but some damage had been done to some of the bores and pistons. I was able to remove all of the pistons and found the bores relatively unscathed and feel they could be honed back to a good smooth finish. The pistons have some of the rings seized in the grooves but again I feel these could be soaked in a freeing agent and polished back to a good finish. After removing the engine and stern drive I decided that I would replace the carpets and carry out some repairs to the side panels etc, but it was at this point that I became self employed and really just don't have the time to carry out the work any more, so Its up for sale to the highest bidder.I have all the parts required to re-build this boat except for the carburetor as I have lost touch with the guy who was going to repair it, so you would not have to go hunting for any of the large parts or panels although as I say they do now need some attention. I did consider putting a smaller diesel engine in the boat as it would make a fantastic river cruiser due to its very large cabin space.

The boat comes as you see it in the pictures and includes the de graff trailer that i bought new in 2007 when I first purchased the boat. The boat has sat under cover for the last three years, and I have put the bimini and side covers back on it for the photo shoot.
