2004 Seadoo Speedster 160 Jet Speedboat fitted with V6 Mercury Inboard 2 Stroke 240 HP Engine The Speedster 160 is a sport boat that’s designed to handle high speeds with confidence. Her sleek lines, radical look and seating for up to 5 people add up to a lot on this 16-footer. This Seadoo Jet boat is powered by a Mercury M2 water jet pump, which gives you safety, quick acceleration and shallow (1 ft) draft. Bucket seats will keep you in place at high speeds and there are grabrails to hold onto when making tight turns. A ski locker is large enough for two skis or a wakeboard.
On the helm side, the gauges are well laid out and easy to read, and the throttle has an elbow rest behind it to lessen driver fatigue. Length Overall 16'6'' Beam 8'0'' Dry Weight 1,710 lbs. (777KG) Tested Weight N/A Draft 1'0' Std. Power 1x240-hp Mercury M2 EFI jetdrive 'There are many benefits to having a jet-powered boat. With its direct-drive jet pump, it’s one of the most maneuverable craft you’ll drive.
Jet pumps have many advantages, they add up to these four things; stronger acceleration, superior handling, better safety and improved shallow water operations. She draws only 12 inches! The Speedster 160 is fully loaded with an AM/FM stereo with CD player and 12-volt jack for your mobile phone. There’s also a built-in cooler above the console to hold a six-pack of your favorite drinks. A large ski locker in the cockpit sole is big enough for two skis or a wakeboard.
Sea-Doo has created incredible room on this 16-foot, 6-inch boat. Her bucket seats are a real neat feature and they will not only keep you in place in tight turns, but they are also comfortable. With room for five people, you can invite your friends aboard this versatile platform. Another plus to the Speedster 160 is a choice of engines. These engines were developed by Mercury especially for Sea-Doo, says the company, and both have over-rev protection, along with low oil and engine overheat warnings.
The mixed-flow, high-volume jet pump gives the boat excellent acceleration. There’s also a hydro-surge intake grate on the bottom of the boat to keep weeds out of the impeller. The Speedster has 20 degrees of deadrise at the transom, which gives you the best ride possible in chop. Her 8-foot beam provided a stable ride and she cut right through waves like a samurai sword. Once aboard the Speedster 160, you’ll begin to understand why there’s so much excitement about this boat.
The Speedster has much more to offer than just a fun, fast ride. She’s a versatile jet boat that can be used for a number of different water activities. Besides being attractive the Speedster is also nimble, fast and has very precise handling. We like what See-Doo has done here which is to marry jet-pump propulsion with a versatile sport boat concept.' SO TO BUSINESS .... This boat has been lovingly owned and, we believe, has very low hours. It certainly hasn't been used much in the last 5 years and that's why it has to go. Overall, it's in amazing condition for it's year and these are very rare and hard to find.
The jet drive was replaced at a cost of £2500 in 2010 (after we picked up a load of stones) and it's probably been in the water about three times since. The gel coat is in fabulous condition with minimal marks and scuffs. It's shines like a new boat after a wash! The engine is visibly low hours and well maintained. It starts on the button and we've had no problems with it, ever.
It's an oil injected two stroke and the tank is virtually full of quality oil ready for action! (It does need petrol though!) This boat is incredibly fast - great for skiing and toys. It's happier at high speed than it is cruising along a river but is equally suited to posing along the Thames if that's your bag. Everything works as it should and we replaced the winch last year on the trailer together with a new cable. The trailer has only been used for the 500 Yd trip to the sea on a few occasions in the last 5 years but doesn't present any issues.
It's a strong, excellent quality trailer with a new spare tyre and rotational jockey wheel. After ever trip on the sea, the engine has been properly flushed to avoid salt corrosion and this is evident from a visual inspection. The boat has a horn and full nav lights for use at night including a removable mast with a white light on it that fits into a socket on the hull. The Sony (4 x 50W) radio / CD player is all there and all works fine. The ventilation fans and bilge pump also work fine.
There are a couple of things we want to declare to be as honest as possible: The passenger seat stitching has come adrift (as pictured). An upholsterer would be able to restich it for you and this has happened since we last used it. The canopy has a small cover around it and the zip had seized up. We broke the zip getting the cover off to take the pictures with the canopy up!! The boat comes with plenty of paperwork including the original manuals for both the hull and the engine.
There is one full set of keys with an alarm fob. This is a personal sale and not business related (even though I'm using my business classifieds board account to list it!). Any inspection is welcome for this fabulous boat and, subject to sea conditions and you paying for the fuel and launch costs, you are welcome to test the boat on the water before you make payment. We cannot however offer any warranty so will do our best to make sure you're 100% happy before you drive off into the sunset. The boat is currently at Frinton, Essex (CO13) from where you will need to collect it.
You will also obviously need a vehicle with a tow bar!! The boat can be held on payment of a £500 deposit but must be gone within two weeks of an agreed sale. Final payment by bank transfer only please once you are happy. (If you are not satisfied once you see it, we will of course refund the deposit although we're confident you too will fall in love with it !!) Any questions? Please don't hesitate to get in touch through classifieds board or call me on 0phone or my brother (Charles) on 0phone.
