Shetland 535 for Sale For sale is my Shetland 535 which I have rescued and restored over the last few years. I bought the boat from Caernarfon in 2016 and completed it in 2018 with loads of time spent on her. There are loads of great bits and some cosmetic bits that need attention. The bad bits – I have used the boat a few times when first finished and she goes really well, no problems at all. I lost my mum shortly after and since she has sat on my drive uncovered needing attention.
As a result she needs a light rub in areas of the exterior where the paint that I touched her up with (without rubbing those bits properly) is peeling. I stress that the boat was fully sanded back and painted with top quality marine paint which is the undercoat she has. I just got paint happy with gloss to make her shine a year or two later. She needs the woodwork staining to the handles on the top, the rack I installed over the splash well and the timber I installed over the bow as you can see in the pictures. The windows will need sorting as I made some which looked great at first but the Perspex is not up to it and is splitting.
They will be fine for a good while but if you wanted to change them it would be easily sorted with windows and rubbers from ‘Split Screens’ on classifieds board at about £136. That’s it, now the good bits. The trailer has been fully restored. It is zinc galvanised and solid. It has been painted with black paint which was specific for the use in water including salt water.
It has new hubs, bearing and wheels with new tyres. It has a new hitch. It has a new sports winch for pulling the boat back onto the trailer with two gears, low and high. It has new rollers which replace the old skids that they used to use in this era of boat. It has new V rollers too.
I have replaced the old axle with a double reinforced axle with new suspension meaning the trailer is solid and reliable. NOW THE BOAT The hull was completely taken back and repainted. I have kept many original features including the original bench seat and driver’s seat. From stern to bow the boat has a fifty horse power Mercury Engine two stroke which has been fully serviced including replacement of the electronic module at £300. She runs brilliantly with no arguments and has never let me down.
She has had a new water pump in the lower unit and all of the compression / health checks that you want when you take a boat out. This engine alone is worth £1600. She also has an auxiliary engine of 5 hp 2 stroke which is also maintained and a great runner should you need it. The engines come with covers. The boat has a ladder that I made which you can use to board or fold down into the water when you are at anchor.
Just need some stain. All of the wiring on the boat is new and wired to top spec. There is new electrical board that I installed by the steering helm as seen in the pictures. This controls all light and stereo, air horn etc. The boat has a waterproof stereo controlled from the deck, brand new, with AM, FM and aux facilities for iPad and phones for which there is a built in shelf inside the cab to accommodate.
There are interior strip lights, deck lights, navigation lights, front spot lights (LED) the sound system and a master electrical isolation switch for security and safety. The boat has a new steering helm, cable and steering wheel capable of fitting a 150 hp engine should the new owner need to upgrade. She has a new bilge pump operated manually but with the option for automatic operation too. She has new ply side panels on deck with a new deck too. The boat has a fire extinguisher.
The Gerry can is not included but the straps will stay for the new owner to replace. Inside the boat has a new toilet. Carpet to the walls. Timber to bulkhead. Battery compartment with new leisure battery.
Interior lights. New Danforth anchor with 30m of rope and chain. Fenders. Newly covered cream seats. A marine vhf radio that floats – brand new. There are more things I have not mentioned but you get the picture.
I am upset at watching it not get loved and used and it needs a new loving home. Call or message for more details. Viewings welcome. I have been as honest as I can. Call me for more info on 0phone.
I have seen mint ones at £6500 today, buy it now. Grab a great boat with a little TLC for £3450. Thanks, open to sensible offers.
