Boat Use: Salt Water
Boat Type: Cabin Cruiser
Beam (Feet): 18
Sadly it’s time to sell our little Shetland 18' boat; We’ve had the Aultra since 2016 and she’s been a brilliantly reliable little boat but our trailer and more recently our tender have been nicked and she’s stuck out on the Blackwater and needs a new owner. Last time we took her out was this October over to the Green Man with no problems and yesterday (November 8th) I kayaked out and covered up the engine and strapped a tarp over to keep the birds off. She’s filthy and hasn’t had any TLC for ages but she’s an original Shetland and they really know how to make boats. She just needs a good clean and some paint and the door catch needs a new spring but the engine is pretty new and recently serviced, starts first time with a bit of choke. Ideally she needs a proper boat cover and taken off the water for the winter.
We’ve had some great fun with the kids fishing and messing about on the water but they’re older now and we live too far away now to get to Mersea regularly. We paid £5000 for The Aultra in 2016 from Andy Seedhouse in Woodbridge but she was mint then and had an awning cover etc. But now we just want a quick sale. Any questions just ask, she’s ready to collect on the Blackwater at West Mersea Island, Colchester, Essex. Best wishes, Tony & Alice *The last photo was taken a couple of summers ago, it's much scruffier now but does clean up really well with a jet hose On 10-Nov-21 at 16:18:30 GMT, seller added the following information: *Just to clear up a bunch of questions being asked: my boat does not have a cover or a trailer and I don’t know much about the outboard engine; other than its low CC 4-stroke Yamaha that can be electronically lowered and raised from the water.
The engine is for river use really, not open sea. The boat was used recently and runs fine but the battery could do with a charge and other than that it goes perfectly. Its just really dirty and badly weathered but nothing than a good clean out on dry land wont fix. I don’t have any more recent pictures as I don’t have a good tender to get to it, which is partly why I’m selling it cheap ‘straight off the water’, although Shetland boats are really well made and sought-after for their reliability and durability. I would add that the panel where the steering wheel is is a bit messy, needs some fixing up and the door catch spring is dodgy but other than dirt from the river and the birds it’s great.
Thanks and happy bidding. On 11-Nov-21 at 20:19:16 GMT, seller added the following information: **Apologies for the group reply, I’ve had loads of emailed questions but I’ve got limited email access for a few days…The boat is in the water and can be collected on the buyers trailer at high tide via two or three slipways at West Mersea, I’m happy bringing my kayak to get to the boat and drive it in. I’ve had a few ‘buy now’ offers’ but classifieds board says it ahs to go to the highest bidder. Then I’ll need 50% paid by PayPal and 50% on collection if that’s ok. Or all on PayPal and I’ll post you the keys. I've tried including my phone number and email address but classifieds board won’t allow it.Cheers
