Shetland Family Four Boat With 40hp Outboard Motor, Must Be Sold

This is a re-listing. It was successfully auctioned before Christmas but unfortunately the winner then reneged on the purchase. The boat is a Shetland Family four river cruiser. It was purchased approximately three years ago and we have enjoyed using it on the canals and rivers in and around London on a cruising license. Our River and Canal Trust cruising license has now expired and we are unable to renew the license.

We’re therefore reluctantly selling the boat as it’s no longer licensed to be on the canal. The new owner should have no problems getting a new cruising license provided they agree to continually cruise. This obviously won’t be a problem if you have a mooring or are planning on removing the boat from the canal. The boat has: Marina branded Honda 40hp outboard fully connected to the steering with throttle controls (Model: 40ELO, Code: 6E9 L, Serial: 426924). The engine is working and the throttle and steering controls work, however it struggles to engage reverse gear.

Key ignition, which works when the battery is charged, can be pull started instead.Hydraulic lift, only working one way (probably relay problem)Auto blender connected to the fuel tank to create the required fuel / oil mix.New propeller in the last couple of years.New battery in the last couple of years, but we think there's probably an alternator problem as it doesn’t charge. Automatic bilge pump (not fitted, as we didn't get round to it)Comes with lock keysSafety certificate (expires: 24/07/2020) The bits that need attention: It needs a good new cover to stop rainwater ingress, without it rainwater gets into the foam lining and it takes a long time to completely dry out the boat. The boat was out of the water last year and the hull was checked so we’re confident there aren’t any hull issues.Needs a new rub rail (the rubber bit around the boat) as its coming off. The cabin ceiling lining has been removed.Generally needs a good cleanup and various minor things fixing.This is a fantastic little boat and with a little love and attention it will make a great cruiser in the warmer months.
