Shetland Family Four River, Sea, Canal Boat 17.5' Mercury 15HP Outboard Trailer

You are buying a Shetland Family Four Boat, ideal for river or sea use. The boat is ready to go having undergone a complete refurbishment and comes with a 15HP Mercury Outboard (perfect for river use) or you could use a larger engine for sea use, plus a four wheel trailer. We have loved using this boat and as our first boat planned to keep it, but now totally hooked on river cruising have upgraded to a larger boat, hence very reluctant sale. The Shetland Family Four is made of GRP (fibreglass) and has a Cathedral Hull. Its 17.5’ long with a 6.5’ beam and weighs 700kg (without engine) and is perfect to tow if not mooring.We bought this as a project boat which was just a shell so that we could refurb completely to meet our needs and standards. We removed all gas making a river licence easier to obtain. We have rewired it to incorporate power saving LED lights internally including a ribbon of LED lights that encircle the entire Cockpit area giving a lovely ambient light especially in the evening. There is also an LED spotlight at the front of the boat.A cool box is built into the cockpit together with Starter and Leisure batteries with a split charge relay sited at the rear of the boat. Good storage under rear seating (with loose cushions) for ropes, life jackets (not included) etc. There is a Houdini hatch and lockable front anchor storage. Under the floor in the cockpit area is an automatic bilge pump which can also be operated manually if needed. Engine: The boat is powered by a Mercury 15HP 2 stroke, electric start with optional pull start.The single lever remote with kill switch is mounted next to the steering wheel. The carburettor was serviced last year and the gear oil and spark plugs were changed at the same time. A removable plastic petrol tank is included.Outside: Painted White and Blue with antifouling all done in the last year. The rubbing strake is hard rubber with a blue insert. Internally it features carpeted walls and ceiling, carpet to floor area.Black rubber non-slip flooring to cockpit area. Fitted storage shelves to either side of the cabin and storage drawers fitted to either side of the cabin giving good all round storage. There is further storage under the seating areas. The seating can be used as two singles or can convert into a large bed and is very comfortable and spacious. The interior has lots of cushions and scatter cushions for comfort.Canopy: We fitted a brand new canopy made by Shetland Boats in Suffolk which cost £500 last September which provides good cover during the winter and wet months. Trailer: There is a sturdy four wheel trailer which has two spare wheels and tyres attached to the trailer. The previous owner disconnected the braking system which we have not re-connected and have towed very easily without. However, the system is there should you wish to connect it. We planned to replace the windscreen as it has become slightly cloudy this year and the window on the right of the boat, but will leave that to the new owners.Please note that the right hand window of the boat does have a crack in it.
