Wellcraft Scarab 31 Excel

"Flying Scot" is a 31 foot Wellcraft Scarab with twin Mercruiser 502 Magnum Engines on sterndrives. This is the performance/racing Excel version featuring a deep vee planing hull, easily capable of over 50 Kts. The cabin is of open plan style with two berths and storage underneath, and horseshoe shaped seating area. There is a built in 12 volt fridge in the cabin with worktop space above. Heads are located off cabin and feature chemical toilet and wash­hand basin.

The cockpit is spacious, featuring single helm seat to starboard and pilot seat to port. There is a forward facing aft bench bolster seat with storage below, and large sun pad area aft. The cockpit has new CD/Radio, new Cobra MRS80 Submersible VHF Radio, new Garmin 556S GPS Map, Cetrek C­Net 2000 Multi and Azimuth 100 Digital Compass. The engines have had many new parts fitted, including 4 exhaust manifolds and risers, 2 alternators, 2 seawater lift pumps, 2 electric fuel pumps, 1 water circulation pump and 1 battery. Both engines have recently been serviced, including replacement of oil and fuel filters, spark plugs, oil changed and engine belts changed.

The outdrive bellows were changed at this time along with one of the gimbal bearings, a new horn was fitted. Flying Scot is currently out of the water (Fri 10th Aug) for the hull to be polished and new antifouling applied to hull and outdrives, new anodes to be fitted. The outdrives have been taken off and bellows checked, universal joints and splines greased and re-installed.
