96 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Yamaha F80 Four stroke with remotes, harness, control cables and gauge. This outboard has been regularly maintained throughout its life at the Yamaha dealership in Dartmouth with the last invoice totalling £1600 in August 2017 which included four brand new carburettors which cost over £1000. It also had a brand new Yamaha 703 control box in April 2016. The 2003 outboard was on a 5M rib that I purchased last month and I was made aware of a fault with the outboard by the owner and that the outboard is not running. The outboard was running this year, the owner took the boat out and it started missing on the way back to the Marina, it was lifted out, checked by the dealership who found a small hole in the casting under the exhaust cover plate which can be seen in the photos.
This could possibly be repaired by a specialist welder. Knowing the outboard had a fault I had already sourced a replacement outboard for the rib although, because of the amount of new parts on the outboard I would have been interested to see if this one could be repaired. Invoices I have for the outboard include April 2014 Full service, strip carbs new battery + cables + new A frame to rib £1785 Jan 2015 Full service £300 June 2015 New rectifier Assembly £437 April 2016 Full service and brand new control box £1285 August 2017 New carbs, service, test £1600 The good points. 4 brand new carbs August 2017, rectifier assembly and new 703 lever control unit in 2016. Outboard was being used regularly this year.
Regularly serviced. Gearbox I believe is in good working order. The gauge says 320 hours but I have no way of checking if this is accurate. There is no water in the engine oil. Outboard is complete except for exhaust cover plate gasket.
When the plugs were removed this week, they were in good condition and all quite similar in colour see pictures. Comes with control cables, and harness. Receipts for £000’s The bad points. Engine does not run. There is a small hole in the casting under the exhaust cover plate.
When I collected the rib the trim and tilt worked fine but it has since got slower and slower and now stopped – the relay operates so I think it’ needs a motor rebuild /replace. The starter motor is very sluggish and the pinion is dry so I wasn’t able to do a compression check but the engine will turn on the starter and by hand with the plugs out. The fuse cover on the SBD side is missing but available around £20 I have a replacement outboard for the rib and need this out of the way. I have an engine hoist and it will go in the back of an estate car. It weighs around 170 kg.
I have been as clear as possible with the description, please be aware that you are buying a non-runner that has had a lot of money spent on it. There are no warranties or guarantees on any items and this outboard is sold as seen with no returns.
