Engine Manufacturer: Yamaha
Boat Type: Speed Boat
Listed for sale is my Fletcher 17 Arrowbeau with a Yamaha 140hp The boat is in excellent condition with its original interior and gel coat (never anti-fouled). Owned for 3 years and has proved to be a reliable craft during this time. The engine is in excellent condition, with the original owner of 10 years, being a marine engineer. However, I’m a sceptic, so I ran a compression prior to purchase to check the compression was even across all cylinders. It passed with flying colours.
I gave both the engine and gearbox a full service with genuine Yamaha parts, this is listed below, preventive maintenance was practiced after this, yearly, including impeller and plugs: · Yamaha water pump housing, base, gasket, cartridge housing and woodruff key · Yamaha fuel filter · Yamaha both thermostats · Yamaha fuel tank connector · Flushed the stainless-steel bow tank · NGK 4x BR9HS10 spark plugs · Yamaha high-performance gear lube (for larger engines) We used the boat for several weekend this summer and it never missed a beat. We’ve ran the boat on quicksilver premium plus 2-stroke oil and flushed and cleaned the boat with fresh water for at least 15 minutes after every use. As you may know, the Yamaha 140hp engines are bulletproof and very powerful. It's more fuel-efficient than you would think, being four cylinders rather than the usual six found on the 150hp version. She uses an external oil tank with a Yamaha 703 control box.
She achieves 50+ MPH with more than enough power to pull skiers. She is 17ft and approximately 6ft beam, making it very stable. The inside has enough space to take 5-6 adults seated. It has a folding front screen for access to the bow and a rear boarding ladder. The trailer is in good solid condition but could do with painting.
I also serviced this last year with new genuine Alko bearings with Morris marine grease. I also added galvanized metal mudguards, upgraded the jokey wheel, and replaced the rubber stop mounts. She has usual age-related marks on the boat, and as is typical, there is some 'crazing' to some of the windscreen plastic. I've changed the driver's window for safety but did not get around to changing the other panels, and this would be my next job if I keep her. The boat has the usual features of a Fletcher Arrowbeau, including the in-floor ski locker (the floor is still very solid), split windscreen for bow access, and a stainless-steel ski pole.
The boat also has a full winter cover with a support bar to keep it taught. As you can see, I've put a lot of effort and money (which I don't expect I'll get back) into this boat to ensure she is in excellent condition and would much rather it moves onto another enthusiast owner. Viewing is highly recommended and by appointment only. Located in Bishop’s Stortford. Delivery available at cost.
